Second floor appears...

Some “concrete” progress being made! This week, we poured lots of “floors.”

And oh.. the house next door got painted. Nice.

My first visitors! They are standing on my front porch.. as long as they aren’t trying to sell me something, they are welcome anytime!

Movin’ right along! Today they installed the poopin’ pipes for the basement! This picture will be valuable when the basement is finished. I’m glad that the house is at one of the highest points of the sub-division!

Here is another angle of the poopin’ pipes. Sorry, I should have warned everyone at the start of the blog entry.. This blog entry is rated PG-13.

Although this information has been in the ‘inspectors sign’ for awhile, I just decided to snap a picture of it. I was surprised it showed up so good! Here's to all you geeks out there!

Development of the Week! Click here. Check it out, it’s a quick read. This was published in the AJC this past weekend.

Looks like some good press about the builder. I really need to visit Mr. Chambers and introduce myself. After all, he is going to be just a couple of doors down from me!

Here is a quick update on the truck accident…

Here you can see the damage that was left after they pulled the truck from the house.
As for the damaged house, they are making great progress on the repairs.

Today, they took care of the waterproofing of the basement. After all these years, I finally understand how the foundation drains work!

If you look real close, you can see the channel that was built towards the bottom of the wall. As water hits the sealed wall, it trickles down to the channel and out the drain and away from the house. It's not a common thing to happen, but if it does, it has somewhere to escape.

Here are the last couple of days consolidated into one posting..

Here you can see the forms holding the concrete into place while it dries on June 6th.

At the same time, the final set of upgrades have been submitted. The next step is to meet with Keith and do the electrical walkthrough (3-4) weeks.

WATCH OUT! RUN AWAY TRUCK!

Yes, your eyes are not lying to you! I spoke with Donna today and she informed me of a mishap from yesterday (6/6/07).

What you’re looking at is a truck that was parked in front of my lot (lot 51). The crew arrived and was getting ready to start setting up the foundation forms for my basement. Keith (Superintendent) and Mr. Brumby (Principle of Homes by Brumby) were standing nearby and noticed the truck slowly rolling down the hill towards a port-o-potty! The truck continued to roll down the hill and towards lot 46. It jumped the curb and landed in the garage, well, sort-of.

At the same time, a youngster was sleeping just above the garage area; Mom had already left for work. Let’s not forget about the family pet, he/she was caged up in the garage dreaming about cats to chase. Could you imagine what it sounded like inside the house when this happened?

And oh, I forgot to tell you about the final resting spot of the port-o-potty! It was sitting in front of the truck when all of this started. It was pushed down the hill but never tipped over. Whew! I was also informed that it was to be occupied just before this ordeal; however, there was no TP available so the occupant opted for another site.

I hope everything works out for the new homeowner, they moved in less than 2 weeks ago!

The footings have been poured. The framers came through and some concrete trucks dropped their ‘load’.

At the same time, I am finalizing my “change order” which includes upgrades, etc.; the next step will be the electrical walk through.

I have also posted pictures of the model home (right toolbar) which is real good example of what the finished product should look like.

Looks like permits and everything are in order!

Today, they started to prepare for the pouring of the basement. If you look closely, you can see the survey string where the basement walls will be.

The following day, I drove by (didn't take a picture) and they were constructing the forms to hold the concrete.

This marks "Day 1" of construction; only 132 more days 'till closing.
