I am floored. I thought, as Americans, we totally forgot about what GOOD customer service means. Heck, it’s all about making money as fast as possible no matter what, right? Don’t let anyone get in your way… Well, not for Donnie (construction manager for Homes by Brumby, LLC). Let me explain.

I just got a call from Donnie informing me that they would NOT be starting today. It has been raining for the last 24 hours and they didn’t want to track in mud and tear up my yard. So, Donnie took 96 seconds to call me and inform me of this. Instead of me wondering what was going on, a short phone call was all it took to communicate effectively and reset my expectations. He advised me that they have rescheduled for Monday.

Ok, I don’t want to sound cheesy, but.. GOOD customer service is hard to find these days. And, I am getting EXCELLENT customer service. Am I making a “mountain out of a mole hill?” Yes, but, it’s VERY important to me. Isn’t it important to you, that is, to get respected and appreciated by those who you do business with? A simple “Thank you” goes a LONG way for me.

This, again, re-enforces my decision of selecting Homes by Brumby, LCC as the GC for my basement project.

Thank you, Donnie. J

Today, reality strikes – the initial set of lumber was delivered and the basement project has officially begun (and so has the rain). I have been told that the framers will be here tomorrow morning.

Here is a picture of the lumber they will be using.. I can’t imagine it will take them long to do their part.

It’s me.. I’m back exactly 4 months later with an update.

Today, I signed an agreement to have the basement finished! I am very excited.

My tireless process to select a GC to do the job was fairly sgtraight forward. I opted to get 4 quotes and asked for the EXACT same thing from each of them. The quotes, for the most part, were bunched up together (cost wise) fairly well. So I began to look at the “warm and fuzzy” factor. Meaning, who did I get the best response from, who has provided the most feedback, who was willing to go that extra mile, etc.

I have selected ‘Homes by Brumby, LLC’ to finish the basement.

I feel very comfortable about my decision. I will be working with the same crew I worked with when I built the house. Same quality product with the same quality crew.

The timeline is about 60 days to complete the basement. I will be posting progress photos, like before, on this blog. If you have not signed up for updates, click the “subscribe me” link to the right.
